About Josh Benson

My name is Josh Benson. I’m from the tiny town of Scandia, Minnesota – a haven of Swedes and Norwegians. So, not surprisingly, I’m a mixture of both.

I’ve been in the television news business for more than a decade. It’s a career that has taken me a few places and allowed me to see a lot of things from the overly exciting to the dreadfully depressing. And that’s why I love it. It’s something new day-in and day-out. I’ve covered such stories as the immigration debate on the Arizona/Mexico border during my time in Tucson, Arizona to some of the biggest cases in the country including the Casey Anthony trial in Orlando, Florida and the Trayvon Martin case in Sanford, Florida. Most recently, I’ve covered the appointment of Pope Francis and the Boston bombings.

Outside of news, I am a technology and computer addict. I simply can’t get enough. From the newest gadgets to the latest website design tactics, I try to learn as much as possible and apply it to several of my interests and ventures. I am the co-founder of Joker Media, LLC, a small website design and video production company developed in 2002. I talk about the latest in technology and business as the host of  ‘Tech & Biz’ on Spreecast.com. I get the opportunity to interview impressive and successful CEOs and co-founders of some of the biggest and brightest start-ups and Internet-based companies today. Spreecast.com was founded by Jeff Fluhr – the brilliant mind and former founder of StubHub.com.

I am very passionate about missing person cases. I have covered the disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit since 2003. She was a former television news anchor who was abducted from her apartment’s parking lot in 1995. She’s never been found, nor has her killer. I founded FindJodi.com, Inc. in 2011 with my former News Director Gary Peterson. Our work is chronicled at FindJodi.com.

When I’m not working, or enjoying my hobbies, I can be found struggling on the piano attempting to impress my girlfriend, huffing and puffing around the lake in an effort to get in shape, attempting to master P90X, cooking (and burning the results) and spending time flying to see my family back in Minnesota. I love golf and curse at my short game. I am die-hard Minnesota Vikings, Twins, Wild and Timberwolves fan – despite the fact they are rarely in the winner’s circle.
