I am sick and it sucksI hate being sick. It just sets you back. Usually you can work through it and ignore aches and pains of a cold – but when it starts messing with your internal road map – then you’re in trouble. Flu or food poisoning – I usually have to consult Web MD to find out some kind of diagnosis.

This seems to be a new one – not so pleasant – so I’ll spare you the details. But if there is a benefit, it allows me to blog briefly in between ridiculously long naps and coverage of the ‘offing’ of Osama bin Laden (excellent news, by the way).  So we’ll see how this plays out.

    Back to bed.

I failed again. Sigh. P90X is one strange mess. I figured if I couldn’t begin the workout program and finish 90 days by over-planning, being creative, tricking myself, penalizing myself and so on, I might as well just stick with everyone else and make ‘working out’ a New Year’s resolution in 2011. So I started P90X for the 6th time. Nice follow-through, huh. Sheesh!

It was all on a fluke too. I had no intention of trying again. I was starting to run. I was working out in my buildings gym. So I WAS working out – just not getting closer to that 90th day – the day I’d become a P90X “Grad”. Ah well. There’s still hope. I was surfing Facebook when I noticed a few people talking about starting P90X. I got excited because I could warn them what NOT to do. So I gave them my pointers and they say they’re even more excited after talking about it. It’s been a week. I better check in to see if that is still the case.

I’m already getting through the initial soreness – especially the legs. But I have learned to go 1/2 speed the first week. Crucial.  So once this week is done, I’m ready to step it up another notch.

I’m not following the diet plan – but that’s because I eat pretty well and have learned what and what not to eat. Now it’s just about sticking to the program. What’s sad is that I can almost recite the entire collection of DVDs WORD FOR WORD. Annoying.

Wish me luck. 5 days down – 85 to go!

Tony Horton of P90X I don’t like to work out. But I have to do it. We all should. The hardest part is getting started – but if I can get started, I usually make it through the day’s workout. Today I’ll have finished the first month of P90X – the workout plan you’ve probably seen on TV infomercials. They’re always on.

Basically, it’s an intense workout requiring only a pull-up bar and some weights. You use your body weight for a lot of the exercises. It can leave you beat. Each workout is about an hour, but three days a week you do abs after the workout. That tends to be rough.

I’ve never successfully completed the 90 days. I think this is my 5th time starting. What a quitter. Well, I hope to change that this time around. I average about a month and a half then something happens to knock me off the workout horse. So wish me luck and we’ll see if I can’t make the 90 days. It’s a nice day outside. I think I’ll head to the pool and work out later.

Heh. See. Have a good Sunday, everyone.

emergencH1N1 – why do we talk about it so much? Probably because it’s never been truly seen before and we all need to freak out about something now and then. Thousands die of the seasonal flu each year and thousands have died from H1N1. It definitely is a serious matter. Either way, I want nothing to do with it.

With my new motivation to work out and shed the “fluff” around the gut, I’ve decided to take dietary supplements a little more seriously. In this case – I’ve taken a good hard look at Emergen-C. This stuff is amazing. At the very bit of a tingle of a sore throat, an ache, a headache….I slam it. It’s probably 99% mind over matter, and I am probably a bit of a hypochondriac, but again…I can’t get sick. And moving into the holiday season, who wants to? There’s food to eat, Vikings to watch and family to hang with.

So thank you Alacer Corp. (Emergen-C’s distributor) for the 1,667% dose of vitamin C, and the B6 and the Maganese. You make me feel good, allow me to work out and fight the Swine.
